"WORTH THE RIDE" SCHOLARSHIP

The METCO, Inc. Board is offering ‘Worth the Ride’ Scholarships, each award is for $1,000.

Students are eligible to apply who meet the following requirements:

  1. Have been residents of Boston during their high school years attending a METCO District.
  2. Received a high school diploma from a METCO district high school.
  3. Plan to attend full time an accredited college/university, or an accredited vocational/technical program including MassHire Career Center approved vendors who are part of the Massachusetts Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL).
  4. If awarded a scholarship, you will need to provide proof of full time matriculation or enrollment in a program identified in item 3, above, prior to receiving the check. The check will be payable to the matriculating student.

What you will need to complete the application:

  1. Your contact information.
  2. Your high school transcript.
  3. A list of your extracurricular activities/or resume.
  4. An essay (not more than 300 words) OR a video (up to 5 minutes).
  5. A recommendation from a METCO staff member, teacher, counselor, or coach, etc.

2026 White Rose $2500 Scholarship Award

 ELIGIBILITY

An applicant for the 2026 White Rose Scholarship Award must be a Massachusetts resident who is an African American male or female, and who is a high school senior applying for Fall 2026 admission into an accredited four-year college/university. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.

DEADLINE

Application materials must be received by April 30, 2026. Applications with incomplete or missing documentation will not be considered. Please list your name in the subject line.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING CREDENTIALS

  • High School Transcript-All applicants must email pdf copies of their secondary school transcripts, which include the results of all grading periods completed at the time of application.
  • Recommendations-Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation. At least one letter should describe your academic abilities and one from someone describing your character and leadership.verifying your community service hours. Recommenders should email recommendations to the email below. Please list name of applicant in the subject line.
  • Essays –All applicants are required to submit a maximum 500-word typewritten essay regarding career goals and why he/she should become a White Rose Scholarship Award recipient.

AWARD DECISIONS

The Scholarship Committee will notify applicants of a decision by June 1, 2026.  If you are selected as an award recipient, you must provide evidence of enrollment in an accredited program of study and pledge to do at least two (2) days of community service work each academic year.  NOTE: Winners will be asked to submit a photo and sign a media release.

Welcome to the Academy Group program application! Please complete each section of this application. Please note that at the conclusion of this application, the student will be asked to complete a written essay response. You may complete the essay at a later date, but once you begin the essay, you will have 60 minutes to complete. Your application will not be complete until the essay is submitted. The Girl Friends Fund, Inc. ® Scholarship

The Boston Chapter of The Girl Friends®, Inc. proudly supports up to four aspiring scholars with scholarships of $1,500 annually for up to four academic years. These awards are offered to qualified high school seniors who have been accepted to a four year accredited college or university. Scholarships are renewable each year for a maximum of four years, provided recipients continue to meet the established academic criteria.

Our mission is to nurture and sustain the academic excellence needed to pursue meaningful careers across a wide range of fields, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Business, Education, and the Creative Arts.

Sarah-Ann Shaw and Maria Louise Baldwin Scholarship - 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to education, the League of Women for Community Service (LWCS) is awarding the annual Sarah-Ann Shaw/ Maria L. Baldwin Scholarship in 2026. This yearʼs Shaw-Baldwin Scholarships of $1,000 will be offered to deserving female high school senior(s) from greater Boston graduating by June 2026. Applicants should be attending a two- or four-year college or trade school in the fall of 2026. A committee of the League will read the essays and determine the scholarship winner. To apply, students could send their college essays from the common application. Or students may draft a brief 500-word essay on: 1. An impactful community service experience; or 2. A woman who was really inspirational.
